Last week was a VERY busy week. We started out learning and understanding who Christopher Columbus was and why we honor him on Columbus Day. The focus of science/social studies for the rest of the week was on the Life Cycle of the Pumpkin and Fire Safety. We continued talking about letters/sounds and highlighted Pp, Tt and Aa. We are working on writing and hearing those sounds to spell words. We talked bout nouns being people & places and how we can relate them to characters and the setting of a story when we are reading. We added have and a to our sight word list. We wrote and illustrated Our Favorite part of the Pumpkin Farm Trip--watch for this to come home in your child's reading bag. In Math we practiced seeing patterns and describing attributes of shapes. We continued to work on numbers 1-10. We had a great day at the Pumpkin Farm--THANK YOU to our chaperones for making the trip such a success. On Thursday Firefighters came to teach us about fire safety as well as show us their truck and ambulance. On Friday we practiced bus evacuations and drew a map of where our rally point is for the ALiCE curriculum.
