Last week we were very busy working on Apples, their characteristics and the life cycle/growing cycle. We learned that informational text is different from books that we read for enjoyment. The two books we used to highlight this were The Apple Orchard and 10 Apples Up on Top.We applied our knowledge of numbers and books for enjoyment by making our own book Apples Up On Top. Look for it to come home in your child's book bag.We also worked with the letters Pp and Ff . We especially are listening for the beginning sound they both make as we explore words and rhymes. We wrote in our journals using our knowledge of beginning sounds and highlighted our new sight word like. We are growing in confidence to stretch out words and write the sounds we hear. In Math we are practicing counting forwards and backwards , understanding ordinality and knowing how to find a missing number. We continue to work on writing numbers correctly using number rhymes. The children were super excited to work with ten frames and tally marks to show numbers, as well. Lastly we practiced finding our rally point with our ALiCE curriculum that prepares our children for a stranger/danger in the building. You should have received the parent materials that accompany these lessons.
