This week we've busy talking about letters Aa, Tt and Gg. We have been using sounds to spell words-- really stretching them out . We are starting to think words have sounds at the beginning .middle and end of words. We have also been working on syllables --which helps us break up words. If you see your child clapping and saying words --that is how we practice hearing syllables. We have been working on characters and setting of stories as well. I hope everyone has enjoyed the retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We are up to 8 sight words: the, a , I ,and, like ,have, is, see .This week we have continued talking about making plans for safety--fire and ALiCE, included. We have also been talking about the seasons and fall. It's hard to describe the change in weather when we've been so fortunate to have such fabulous weather. Squirrels habits, leaves changing and night coming earlier have been some of our favorite discussions. On Friday we took a walk through the nature center to see these changes for ourselves. In math we are diving into teen numbers--they can be really tricky. We will continue working with them --understanding their pattern, the sets that they represent and how some do not have the word teen in them, even though they follow the same visual pattern.
