We have had a great first full week of school. We used our five senses as we talked about Fruit--using adjectives like smooth, rough, shiny, bumpy, soft and slimy. We also talked about the kinds of seeds that fruit have, some inside and some outside. Thank you for helping provide fruit for our culminating activity of making fruit salad --it was delicious ! We used our senses as we explored numbers too --listening for number sets and adding one to them. In addition we talked about letter Mm , it's sound and it's letter formation. I hope that you have heard your child sing "we always start our letters at the top" --it is a catchy tune that you can find on you tube . It is part of our Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Reading the book Meanies was a highlight as well. It gave us an opportunity to talk about vocabulary of an unknown text to find meaning. The kids loved this story and had great fun re-telling it with a story wheel. It is fun to hear them read !! Lastly the kids really enjoyed turning in their gotcha cards for a reward at the school store--I am so happy that they all have had a chance to shop. It means they are working hard on being kind, safe and doing their job !!
